Paranormal Circus ‘grown-up’ show with horror spin at Empire Mall
Halloween is coming to Sioux Falls a bit early this year.
The Paranormal Cirque, which is a circus, theater and cabaret show for adults, will be held August 19-22 at the Empire Mall. The performance will take place in a tent in the parking lot of the shopping center near JCPenney.
âThese are all the crazy shows that people like to see normally, but with a touch of Halloween and horror,â said Ben Holland, general manager of Paranormal Circus.
Holland is also the lighting and sound technician for the show as well as the circus contortionist, which means he can twist and bend his body into unnatural positions for the performance.
The show will turn horror into fantasy, featuring clowns, acrobats, motorcycle stunts on high wires, a wheel of death and more. Viewers will also be able to see other balancing acts, dancing, comedy skits and magic tricks.
The show adheres to an animal-free policy.

Paranormal Cirque is Cirque Italia’s traveling show for an adult audience. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The show has adult language and material.
The show’s organizers were originally planning to come to South Dakota last year, but the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has kept the circus going in Texas until the pandemic subsides, Holland said . Although masks are always encouraged for unvaccinated participants, there will be no limited capacity.
âWe hope to bring a good date night or a night out with friends,â Holland said. “Let go of all the crazy things that are going on in the world and go out and have fun.”
