The organizers of this year’s virtual event unveiled the 27 performers participating in the cabaret-style show, an annual event that will be available to ticket holders for four days starting September 20.

Neema Bickersteth, Canadian soprano featured in the Stratford Festival’s Why We Tell the Story cabaret, local content creator Stewart Reynolds aka Brittlestar, and aspiring singer / songwriter Hannah Thomas are among them.

“We called this concert Stronger Together because we really are,” event committee chair Arlene Jillard said in a statement. “We are determined to take this glorious online performance program as a signal that these artists will soon be returning to the live performance venues where they and their audiences are most comfortable. “

PAL provides affordable housing and support services to members of Canada’s professional arts community who are 55 years of age and older and who need help because of their age, income or disability. For the past seven years or so, the charity has been able to raise enough money to pay off the mortgage on their affordable housing building on Brunswick Street, but demand is still high, Jillard said, and the charity’s board of directors is discussing how best to deal with a growing waiting list for their services.

Many of this year’s performers have recently visited small local businesses that have supported PAL, including Marcus Nance, a Stratford Festival regular and another of the fundraising organizers.

“The last 18 months have been tough,” Nance said. “Canadian artists have lost their jobs, are looking for a job or have created new income opportunities. We are very grateful to the local Stratford community for all the support we have received during this difficult time. ”
