There’s plenty to do in the area this week, especially if you like musicals, live music, circuses and markets.

Running All Weekend is the Feel-Good Family Musical Goldilocks and the Three Brothers in the auditorium of Bega Uniting Church.

On Friday, budding cartoonists aged 10 to 14 can join cartoonist Louie Joyce in a visual (comedy) storytelling workshop. You can also catch The Last Sin at the Civic Theater in Wagga Wagga or at The Superstars of Country concert with Jason Owen and Hayley Jensen in Queanbeyan.

To kick off the weekend, Saturday in Merimbula The Year of Magical Thinking tells the story of Joan Didion’s life after the sudden death of her husband, Angela Lount and Leo Joseph perform jazz, blues and soul music at Yass, the Curious Chaotic Cabaret brings drag queens, music, comedy and sideshows to Wagga Wagga and Jason Owen back on stage at the Superstars of Country concert in Goulburn.

At the end of the weekend, Cronulla duo Matt and Dylan perform their best country hits in Tilba and Moss Vale holds its annual Christmas market in July.

Goldilocks and the Three Brothers

Have you ever wondered what would happen if all your favorite fairy tales collided during a theatrical performance? Head to the Bega Uniting Church Auditorium starting this Friday to find out. Goldilocks and the Three Brothers is a pantomime of fairy tale hilarity that will have the whole family laughing.

Budding cartoonists and artists aged 10-14 are invited to join award-winning comic book creator and illustrator Louie Joyce, to learn the basics of visual storytelling, world-building and drawing techniques. Participants will create their own comics. Joyce has taught at the University of Wollongong, Museum of Contemporary Art, Wollongong Art Gallery, Australian Comic Arts Festival, Comic Gong, JMC Academy and UTS Sydney, as well as at libraries, NSW events and schools.

The Last Sin

In this theatrical performance, protagonist Lilith discovers that murder is easy, love is hard, and happiness is earned. When happiness crumbles and love leaves, she embarks on an existential quest for revenge. Produced by The Persona Collective and written and directed by Keeden Hendriks, this show is part of The Curious Oddball Takeover.

Country Superstars: Then and Now

When: Friday, July 15, 7 p.m.

Popular Australian country music artists Jason Owen and Hayley Jensen bring their national tour Country Superstars: Then and Now in Queanbeyan. The two-hour showcase features covers of classic songs from internationally acclaimed country artists such as Dolly, Denver, Underwood and Urban. Expect a tasteful mix of ballads, rhythmic numbers, soulful solos, medleys and duets, plus original songs performed by two fabulous Australian musicians.

Join The Vaudeville Collective as they showcase some of The Curious Rabbit’s favorite artists doing what they do best in the Curious Chaotic Cabaret. Drag, music, improv theater and circus performances abound with Rose Quartz and her court of drag queen Dizzy Dilemma and Hooly Dooly. This show is part of The Curious Oddball Takeover.

They recently released their first EP Jack’s Motel and performed at Sydney’s Factory Theater and Cronulla’s Jazz and Blues Festival. Now the duo of Cronulla, Matt and Dylan, known as the Sons of Atticus, are set to perform some of their best original country tunes in Tilba.

Moss Vale Showground hosts the Moss Vale Christmas Market this Sunday in July, with produce from many local artisans. Think crafts, jams, relishes, soaps, candles, handmade gifts and art. There will also be plenty of concerts, rides and fun activities for kids, including miniature train rides throughout the day. With plenty of parking, a beautiful location, and a pet-friendly environment, the whole family can share in the festive spirit.
